There are many road that connect two cities. The best road is not always the fastest. It depends on the requirements. If you travel from Pangkor Island to Penang the most obvious route goes to Taiping and after that by motorway to Butterworth and Penang.
But is it also the nicest way? If you ask me, I would say no. There is an old road that connects Taiping with Selema and from there you can travel to Kulim and Penang. It is indeed a road less traveled, only local villagers seems to come here. However, the road is in excellent condition and it is worth the effort to take this road.
The problem is that you need your own transport. I have cycled this road several times and it is quite easy to do in a day from Taiping to Penang. Local transport by bus is not available unless you try your luck with a bus from Taiping to Selama and change here to a bus to Kulim. You will have to leave early.
But the journey is very rewarding. You will pass small kampongs where hardly tourists, local and foreigners alike will ever come.
The best part is the peaceful countryside. It’s a highly recommended journey
Pangkor – Taiping – Selama – Kulim – Penang

The Penang National Park in Teluk Bahang in the north west corner of Penang is less known to many tourists. However, less known does not mean less interesting. Contrary. It’s a good set up park and worth a visit. There is some beautiful unspoiled jungle and some of the best beaches of Penang (much better then the infamous Batu Ferringhi.
We have a good map available:
As you already know, I live in Malaysia, and not far from here is a turtle breeding station. It’s an important station as turtles getting more and more rare. Although turtles lay up to about 100 eggs, the mortality rare by natural causes is about 98%. Now men comes and eat turtles and turtle eggs. The result… you can imagine. The once common Leatherback is now almost disappeared. Green Turtles and Olive Ridgebacks do come around here.
However, people still eat turtle meat and eggs (one egg cost here in Malaysia about RM 3-4, US$1 and people are still willing to pay!
The Turtle Research and Rehabilitation Group, formerly known as Sea Turtle Research Unit (SEATRU) Universiti Malaysia Terengganu has set up a plan to make people More aware of the problems turtles face. Become a Turtle Ambassador, click here and help to bring the turtles back in Malaysia.

My websites are all build with Sitesell. Not a cheap price for a hosting. Well, Sitesell is a little bit more then hosting. It contains a full package of website building, monitoring and promotion tools. There’s nothing on the net close to Sitesell.
Sure, I am biased, as I work with it but the thing is, it does work so well. Why bother then looking somewhere else? And here’s you chance, get TWO packages for only $100 more. Share with a family member, or a friend and share the costs.
Sitesell does what it should do, deliver and over deliver the value of the package. Interestingly,if you join now you will have the profits of Content 2.0 which is about to be released. Extra payment for this? Of course not! Package is package. If there was one moment you should start your Internet business, it is now.
Dim Sum is an original Chinese, Cantonese dish you can easily find in Malaysia. Especially on Sundays many Chinese will go out for a long breakfast and socialize with friends and family after a long weeks work. Here’s the details of Dim Sum in Malaysia

Few realise it but the mainland of Perak in this part of Malaysia is very suitable for outdoor teambuilding. Mr. Goh from Explore the Wilderness has set up and range of teambuilding programs. And I have to say, Mr. Goh knows what he is talking about. Not only he has excellent programs available, he also knows the surrounding areas very well.
Teambuilding in Lumut, Pangkor and Teluk Batik is therefore a real pleasure in a surrounding in nature with quality staff and quality surrounding. What else do you need? Read more about Explore the Wilderness here
Although I live more then 2 years now in Sitiawan, near Pangkor, there are still new places to explore. Mr. Goh called me if I was interested in joining him for a nice little hike near Teluk Batik. Mr. Goh organizes some of his teambuilding sessions in this area. I wrote about his teambuilding here
We went by car to Teluk Batik and started our hike here. It was a great little hike that brought us through a kind of manmade ravine to the golf course of Teluk Rubiah and from there to a beach which is only accissible through this jungle path. You can read a full report of my little 2 hour hike here
