I live 3 years now in Malaysia and I have still not figured out why the ikan bilis, anchovies, is so much better here then anywhere else. Most likely the breeding waters here are better for ikan bilis then anywhere else. But honestly, I don’t know. What I do know is that the ikan bilis is excellent. But hey, I am an orang puti, a lao wai, a foreigner in Malaysia, what do I know about it?
In fact, I am told the story over and over again by local Malaysians, the ikan bilis from Pangkor is simply better in quality then anywhere else (though no one really explains why).
I got in touch with Mr. and Mrs. Beh, owners of the Keng Hai Chuan Fishery in Pangkor. Here I learned how to recognize the good from the lesser quality ikan bilis. You can read the explanations here.
Over the months I got so impressed with the quality that we decided to make the products of Mr. and Mrs. Beh available on the internet. Here is only a limited set of products they offer in the store. But these products we can ship to you. So let’s have a look!
Last year I visited the Thaipusam in Penang for the first time. It was a life changing event. Seldom I have been more perplexed what people can do. You read it back at this page:
This year Mr. Chandra and Mrs. Pearly have set up a tour over the two days and nights and trust me, I am going to join. If you want to know more about the Thaipusam, join me with Mr. Chandra and Mrs. Pearly:
The Horizon Inn at Teluk Nipah, Nipah Bay in Pangkor has made quite a few improvements. We are proud to give you now the opportunity to book a room at gthe Horizon Inn. The rooms are all nice and comfortable with what you can expect from a decent hotel.
If you decide to stay at Pangkor on 30th December, you may want to visit the opening of the “gourmet health coffee shop”. The shop will add a very valuable aspect to Nipah Bay and from what Miss Sing told us, it will be a very interesting concept. The shop will sell pre-packed local coffees with Malaysian herbs such as Tongkat Ali. You will also find famous Ipoh White coffee, slimming tea and health drinks with ganoderma (giant mushrooms).
Personally I am looking forward to see the shop open and get some of the famous Ipoh White Coffee!
I guess everybody meets extraordinary people in his or her life. I met a man who has only one arm and one leg and still finds the possibility to ride a bicycle. He lives now in Yangshuo. You can read his story here
Pearly from My Island Penang wrote me a story about a miracle man from China: Peng Shulin
Here is the amazing story of Peng Shulin
Huh? Do I read that right? Why is building a website not for everyone?
Have you been looking to build a successful website, trying to generate an income but got disappointed by the Quick Rich Schemes? Me too. But my Pulau Pangkor website is a good example of a website that now is the dominating website about Pangkor and surrounding areas in Malaysia. The website generates an income for me that gives me a life.
You doubt the website is that dominating? Check a few keywords, I give you a few. Try:
- Pangkor
- Lumut
- Malaysia islands
- Sitiawan
As you see, these keywords generate a top 10 position for different pages of the Pangkor website. This is the trick. Many “gurus’ teach you how to make a no.1 spot for your website. But in fact the real trick is to generate a range of top positions for MANY keywords.
How do we know the best keywords? There are many ways but only Sitesell has a Brainstormer that generates a huge list of good keywords related to a search.
Brainstormer? Can you get the Brainstormer somewhere? Is there a link? Is it free?
Unfortunately the Brainstormer is not free. It’s part, and to me one of the most important parts of the Sitesell packages. The quality of the Brainstormer alone is worth the whole Sitesell package. But there’s more. You can get a glimpse of it on this page
However, you are suspicious. You don’t know me. I can say whatever I say but you want PROOF. Fair enough. Here is your proof
And here are some other successful websites
and many others at this results page
If you are not sure about the package, why not start working with one of the free tools of Sitesell and see for yourself one how good SBI is: SearchIt
Even if you do not want to buy the Sitesell package. please do bookmark SearchIt.
And the good thing at this moment is, if you buy one package, you get one free:

Can you think of a better Christmas gift?
To your success

I don’t know how it is with you but I like to see things few other people ever see. Yangshuo town has over the years developed into a major tourist attraction. Foreigner and local Chinese people love to see the beauty of Yangshuo and it’s famous limestone mountains. It’s clear enough why people love Yangshuo.
You may think it’s easy to find the treasures of Yangshuo on your own. You will be able to find the treasures, at least some of them. But if you want to see the real gems, you still need a guide. OK, OK, I admit, I don’t like guide too much. However, they can save a lot of time and find places virtually impossible to find without local knowledge. And you won’t have much time too.

Jessie Lu has set up a private tour in and around Yangshuo. She visits places none of the other guides visit. Why not? Jessie has an extensive network of friends and family living in hidden villages where other guides simply never come. Even though I know Yangshuo quite well, remember I lived there too, some of those places she visits in the tour were unknown to me too.
Have a look at what tours Jessie has available. Click here to visit
The Vikri Beach Resort at Pulau Pangkor’s Pasir Bogak is one of the more private chalet hotels at Pangkor. The family owned hotels offers a nice range of chalets, away from the cloud, near the jungle of the Pangkor hills while the same chalets face also the Pasir Bogak beach.
This hotel chalets is owned by a lovely family who give you the feel you are not only guests, but almost part of the family. Highly recommended. Read more about the Vikri Beach Resort here
