A couple of days back I found this lovely website about Malaysia: www.malaysia-vacation-homes.com

Browsing over the site I found lots of great content. The webmaster had also a section about weddings. As I had recently been to a Malay wedding, I added a story about a marriage celebration in Pangkor and Kedah in. Read here for the whole story

One of the most curious breakfast I got a few weeks ago. I went to see my friend Mrs. Pearly in Kepala Batas. She’s a good cook, write about that one here Penang website. I was her and her husbands’ guest to help her with a few website problems. She told me she was making some sambal udang kering. And when I woke up I would get for breakfast some homeade brown bread with this sambal udang kering.

Bread with sambal belachan

Pearly and her husband Chandra are bread eaters. In Malaysia you will not find many people who love homemade brown bread. The Malaysians, if they eat bread, they prefer sweet white breads or bread with fillings. Brown bread is not on the menu.

So the morning I wokeup with the idea to have some great brown bread for breakfast. Now you have to know I never eat bread here in Malaysia. Good bread is hard to find and if I have the choice between bad bread or a good bowl of noodles or a plate of rice that taste great I know what to choose.

Chandra now told me to put some sambal udang kering on the bread. “It’s great”, he said. Thus I tried. Now I have been having lots of different food when I traveled. But seldom was a breakfast so unexpected as this one. Read here for the full story

Stamps, I did collect them when I was younger. I remember I had a bunch of books with all kinds of stamps. One thing that always amazed me were the stamps of tropical countries, Brazil, African countries, Thailand, yes I even had a few Malaysian stamps too. They were always very colorful, populated with exotic birds and mamals. In Holland we had “boring stamps”.

Was that the reason I forgot the stamps? I am not sure. In some way I guess it’s part of the process of growing up and find other more interesting things to do. I went into judo, started collecting music, read hundreds of books, went on the road … and… forgot the stamps.

It came all back this morning when I went to the post office here in Sitiawan Malaysia. I had to mail something to Holland. The lady gave me a few white stamps with colorful birds. Wow…. we didn’t have that in Holland. OFCOURSE we didn’t have them. we didn’t have the birds too!

But it made me realise stamps is an addiction of all times. I know people who grew old with collecting stamps. I know more people who started collecting once and gave it up, like me. Part of life I guess.

Stamps in Malaysia

Some things in my life have left am enormous impression. I bet you have that too. My first schoolday at secondary school, my first kiss, my second place in the Open Dutch Judo Championships and first rock & roll concert I saw. During my life I became fascinated by what other people said, what I read. I became more focussed on what others have to tell me, what I could learn. When I read ebooks from Ken Evoy I know I was dealing with an exceptional man. My first Ken Evoy book was the Affiliate Masterscourse, a true masterpiece.

What really knocked me out was that this man had written a book so easy to understand, so extensive and so full of humour, that even I understood it. But what really knocked me out was that the book was free! It was a FREE download. The book is still free:

The Free Affilaite Masters Course

In the internet world there are mostly scams running around. People claiming they make money but in fact… you know what I mean. But when Ken Evoy speaks through his newsletter and the Sitesell forums, I always pay attention. AT a certain time he mentioned An Sieg. If Ken Evoy was the master of CTPM, An Sieg was the master of MLM.

I have been in MLM and to be honest, I hated it. No, I won’t tell you what company, but I can tell you that when I read An Sieg’s free ebook: the 7 Lies, I read exactly what I hated so much. And thus I started another journey in the world of MLM. Because what An Sieg simply says is that you should focus on what you love, not what your upline tells you.

As I said, the Ebook is free, you can download it here. And I am back in the MLM word.

Sorry, I am not going to tell you how you can make a zillion dollars in 1 month with 20 minutes work a day. If that is what you expect, please google for such scams. However, I can offer you some info about how to make money with your travel experience. I do that and it works well. It pays my bills and I have a comfortable life in Malaysia. Here I do what I love to do: cycling, diving, eating out (never eat at home… how would that feel…?), meeting friend when I want, not when the boss allows me.

So, how do I do it? In fact it is quite simple: I wrote 3 websites:

www.pulau-pangkor.com
www.bicycle-adventures.com
www.yangshuo-travel-guide.com

These websites are about my travel experiences and they do generate substantial money. Now, what I can do, you can do. So make your travel experience make your money, you have the knowledge about it because you have done it yourself. So all you need to do is find the right entrance gate and off you go. This page shows you how to create a content rich website with the monetization models possible. And in case you need more special info, why not give this page a read? You have nothing to loose and everything to win.

A short note about an article I wrote some time ago and anyone is free to copy it under the rules of Ezinearticles.com

Cycling in China, free article

Swickies rock your socks off? What is a Swicki? A Swicki is a kind of mix between a search engine and Wikipedia. It has the features of a Search Engine but YOU are the one who controls the one who controls the content. In other words, you are the God of your Swicki.

How does it work? In principle very simple, you create a search box and a results page. Take for example my Yangshuo swicki, and do some searches. When you do searches related to Yangshuo, Guilin or China you will find the Yangshuo websites better in the list then in ordinary Search Engines like Google, Yahoo or Windows Live.

Cheat? Scam? Yes and no, basically as a Swicki owner I have the possibility to give people the best results for a specific subject and sometimes in a traditional Search Engine, I see a bit of junk passing by. I can filter that out in my Swicki.

For webmasters it is also interesting because the principle of a blogroll works in Swicki too. Add websites in the Sidebar and the search results will be generated in a page which… will be counted as a link-in in your website and counts thus for your Pagerank. In your Google account you will see links back that look like:

http://yangshuo-travel-guide-swicki.eurekster.com/Travel+China/

Isn’t that great? You can also give people the option to put your swicki on their websites. The Swicki is therefore a good additional featureto build more traffic to your website and generate genuine links based on searches with the Swicki. Enjoy yourself. It works well.

Some weeks ago I told you about a Malay wedding I was invited to. I still recall the wedding as if it was yesterday, it was a great event. Apparently other people though so too because some people left messages in the Pangkor website. See for yourself.

Malay wedding and some stories from friends and family

Travelers to Malaysia can of course read the Pangkor website to prepare themselves. But what if the website is not enough? Or, what I personally have, I want to sit on the sofa with a book in my hands. Reads easier then on a monitor. You see, I live in Malaysia and in the town where I live, Sitiawan, there are no bookstores. If I want to buy a book, I have to travel a few hours, Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, to find a decent bookstore. Thank God we have the internet these days!

And this I have made it even easier for you. On the Pangkor website is now a complete book and multimedia store available with everything you can possibly want to read or view. Look for yourself and enjoy the Malaysia book and multimedia store
