One of the interesting things I learned in the last few weeks came from Mr. and Mrs. Beh. They own the Mesra Feri company. Why attention for a ferry that runs almost every 15 minutes? There are a few companies and why bother which boat you take? Those questions I had in mind when I met Mrs. Beh. Soon it became clear the Mesra Ferry is more then “just” a ferry. Or should I say, it can become more then just a ferry in YOUR life.

How? Easy, think of this: you come to Pangkor to celebrate your birthday with a some friends. Why not rent the ferry, cruise around the island while having a barbeque on the upper deck? Or, celebrate your convocation? Or… or… I can go on and on ofcourse. There are dozens of reasons why you can rent the Mesra Ferry for private purposes. Have a look at the pages of Mesra Ferry and find out you will be in excellent hands.

Sitiawan is the little town where I live these days. I prefer to live in Sitiawan since it’s more local then Lumut, the gateway to Pangkor Island. Sometimes I get emails from people asking me questions about what people here do for living, what their lives are about. What is easier to answer then such a question if one of tbe citizens of Sitiawan can tell the story herself with a blog. Diana has her own blog running full of little stories in her life with her husband Jacob and her two kids. Read more about Diana and her family.

Have you ever heard of Ikan Bilis? Ok, you are a Malaysian, you know what I am talking about. For everybody else, ikan bilis is the Malay word for anchovies. And anchovies you do know. You eat it in the pizza, as a small side dish or in the soup.

But did you know where the best anchovies comes from? Nope, not from Italy where they use it in pizzas. Nope, not Taiwan or Thailand. The best, and most natural anchovies comes from Pangkor Island Malaysia.

I know, it’s easy to buy anchovies in the supermarket in tin cans. But once you have eaten the real thing, you don’t want that anymore. Now, where do you have to look for? Read more at this page.

The Raja Muda International Regatta yacht race has visited Pulau Pangkor. The race, an international field with Asian, Australian and Scotish boats sailed from Klang ro Pangkor Island and left on Monday the 21st November further to Penang and Langkawi. It was a magic site to see the 31 boats between Pulau Pangkor and Pangkor Laut but it was even more magic to see them sailing into the Great Wide Open sea.

Have a closer look what happened on sunday and monday the 20th and 21st of November.

Here is a short note I have updated the page about what you can do at Pangkor. New items include how to book your own fishing trip, ikan bilis and the Mesra Ferries. Check it before you come to Pulau Pangkor.

Of course Pulau Pangkor will be your number 1 destination in Malaysia. However, there’s a few other fantastic places to visit. Check for more destionations our links page. One of the websites you will find there is about the Cameron Highlands, a very good destination too, expecially if you are tired of the heat. The Cameron Highland website is an excellent introduction into the hills just north and east of the capital Kuala Lumpur. The hills are also easily reached from Pangkor.

The Lumut Waterfront is a newly build promenade just outside Lumut centre. It’s a 10 minute walk and it shows you a view over the Dindingh river. If you just arrived in Lumut and have to wait for your ferry, have a stroll here.
